Jean-Luc Pasquet Très Vielle Réserve Cognac (Bottled 2019)
50 cl, 44%

The 2019 bottling of Jean-Luc Pasquet’s “Très Vielle” or “Very Old” Cognac.

Known for the artisanal approach they take to production, Jean-Luc Pasquet have an excellent reputation for producing some of the best Cognacs around. A small, family run company, with a vineyard just 7.5 hectares in size. A mixture of grapes, largely Ugni Blanc, are grown here, and the produce is fully organic.

Pasquet maintain traditional methods, such as hand harvesting, and non-sulphur production, to create their delicious spirit. The Cognac is distilled in small copper pot stills, and aged in Limousin French oak casks.

This spectacular bottling has been aged for some 45 years, giving it an astonishing complexity and depth of flavour.

The Cognac serves up notes of rich mahogany, with notes of gentle white flowers, vanilla, toffee, dark oak, tobacco smoke, dark chocolate, beeswax, toasted herbs (thyme and rosemary particularly), caramelised citrus peel, muscat wine, liquorice, a little salt, sultanas, apricots, mocha, plums, figs, bananas, and gentle spice.

Rich, fragrant and a little savoury, this is an incredible bottling, offering flavours rarely seen in Cognac.

Brilliant value for money for a spirit of this age and craft production.
