The American Prairie Reserve is named after an impressive, 5.000 square mile wildlife reserve in northeastern Montana. It is the largest wildlife reserve in all of the 48 lower states, and it is the same size as the state of Conneticut! High West pledged to donate 10% of their after tax profits to the American Prairie Reserve.
To be a little more technical about the whisky itself. It’s a blend of two straight bourbons.
A 6 year old bourbon from a mashbill of 75% corn, 20% rye, and 5% barley malt, sourced from the MGP (formerly LDI) distillery in Indiana.
And a 10 year old bourbon from a mashbill of 60% corn, 35% rye, and 5% barley malt, sourced from an undisclosed distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
