A well crafted VSOP Cognac from this historic domaine.
The François Voyer estate dates back to the days of the French revolution, and has been distilling since the 1870s. Voyer remains family owned, and is one of few Cognac houses to distil their own crop, grown on their small vineyard holdings entirely contained within the premier cru of Grande Champagne.
Voyer are known for using meticulous, old fashioned methods in producing their spirit. The Cognac is made entirely from Ugni Blanc grapes, and wine is fermented using different yeasts depending on the climatic conditions. Double distillation occurs in traditional Charentaise alembics, with the lees included. Finally, the heart of the spirit is selected in the traditional method, by the Distillers’ sense of smell!
This Cognac has been aged in small Limousin oak casks with a medium toast for a minimum of four years. The result is a beautifully balanced spirit that offers notes of subtle green grapes, dried fruits, rancio, toasted oak, dark chocolate, vanilla, flowers, apricots, honey, mixed spice and slight cream.
An impressive VSOP that transcends its age with complexity.
