A ripping cask strength bottling of Fettercairn from Dutch bottlers the Ultimate Whisky Company.
A rather overlooked distillery, Fettercairn makes a somewhat fruity and light style of spirit, with cooling rings aiding reflux and reversing the effects of the distillery’s traditional open mash tun, wooden washbacks and tiny stills.
This bottling was distilled on the 20th of November 2006, and bottled on the 18th of January 2019, having been aged for 12 years in a single Bourbon barrel.
The result is a wonderfully fruity dram, that serves up notes of pineapple, apple, pear, hay, sugared lemon and orange rind, vanilla, milk chocolate, slight menthol, a touch of coffee, buttery Bourbon oak, banana, ginger and cinnamon spice.
Bottled at 54.1% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a lush, satisfying whisky.
Only 215 bottles were produced.
