This rum is produced by Licorera Cihuatan, and made using molasses. The maturation occurs in a solera system of former Bourbon American oak casks, for as long as 12 years.

Cihuatán 12 year old offers notes of cola, coconut, tropical fruits, brown sugar, honeyed ginger, maple, cedarwood, vanilla and cinnamon spice.

This rum brand takes its inspiration from local myth. The branding is inspired by the traditional tribal art of Central America, whilst the name is taken from local myth, with Cihuatan meaning “the land beside the sleeping woman” in the ancient language of the area. According to legend, a goddess came to this El Salvadoran valley, and spread fertility and wealth on the land. She then slept, forming the shape of the mountains and ensuring continued abundance.

The glass that accompanies the bottle also features this tribal-style artwork, as does the boldly coloured presentation box.
