Château de Montifaud Vintage 1977 Cognac (Bottled 2011)
50 cl, 43%

A truly extraordinary bottling of Chateau de Montifaud Cognac. This vintage bottling dates all the way back to the year Jimmy Carter was sworn in, the Queen of England celebrated her Silver Jubilee and Star Wars was first released – 1977!

This vintage or Millésimé Cognac is made from grapes grown in the Petite Champagne Cru, widely thought of as one of the finest crus in the Cognac Region. All these grapes were picked in the 1977 harvest.

The Cognac was bottled at the Chateau in 2011, giving the spirit a truly astonishing age of 34 years. This extremely long aging process in French oak casks has produced a spirit of a singular depth and complexity. Drinkers should expect intense and dignified flavours of dried fruit, deep oak, toffee, wizened grapes, sweet wine, rich French vanilla and slight coconut, with some fresh floral aromas. Despite this phenomenal age, the Cognac somehow manages to maintain superb balance, and is far from over oaked.

The spirit is bottled at 43% ABV, a small increase in proof that makes a big difference to the flavours and mouthfeel of this terrific spirit. The Cognac looks as good as it tastes, with a wonderful rustic bottle style, with hand-labelling, a string-lined neck and a beautiful stopper. Each bottle comes complete with a stunningly handsome wooden presentation box, with a polished metal inlaid label and clasp.

Each bottling is hand-numbered and stocks are highly limited. This is a once in a lifetime bottle, that would make an excellent gift for any Cognac drinker, and a superb addition to even the widest collection.

Please note this is a 500ml bottling.
