Another simply phenomenal bottling from Chateau de Montifaud. This time round it is a delightful vintage (millésimé) bottling from way back in 1976.
This fantastic spirit is distilled from grapes grown in the Petite Champagne cru, ranked as one of the finest crus in the region. All the spirit used in this bottling was distilled from grapes grown in the 1976 harvest. The Cognac has been long aged in French oak casks, with the spirit developing an incredible complexity as a result.
Despite its long age, the quality of the spirit shines through, with notes of sweet grape and an oily, herbaceous, and fragrant nature. Classic French oak notes of vanilla, pressed flowers, polished wood, toffee and apples are also present, rounding off the spirit nicely.
The Cognac is presented at 43% ABV, with the slight increase in proof massively boosting the flavour and mouthfeel of this spirit. This is a rare spirit, and bottles are limited. Each beautiful decanter-style bottle comes complete with its own handsome presentation box.
