Part of the limited edition Game of Thrones selection created through partnership between Diageo and HBO.

This Cardhu takes the name and stylings of House Targaryen, a royal house in the show and books, that had previously held the Iron Throne. They are known for their use of fearsome dragons, and their impervious resistance to fire.

For much of the show Daenerys Targaryen is the head of the house, and a powerful woman in a male dominated world. Daenerys finds her parallel in the whisky world in Helen Cumming, who established Cardhu with her daughter in law and her smuggler husband in 1824.

The Targaryen house motto is “Fire and Blood” referring to their history with dragons and strong family ties. The same strength of family established Cardhu, whilst it is the warming whisky that supplies the fire here.

This dram serves up notes of soft honey, oak, apples, pastry, baking spices (cinnamon and cloves), slight smoke, malt, toffee, butter and vanilla.

A fitting tribute to this powerful house.
