A superb sherried single cask Caol Ila, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for their Connoisseurs Choice range.

This dram was distilled back in 2008, and has been aged for 14 years in a single first fill sherry butt, number 312058. This cask was selected to celebrate Han van Wees’ 60 years in the whisky industry.

The whisky itself offers notes of dried fruits in sherry, toasted nuts, oily citrus peel, rich peat smoke, baked apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, black liquorice, charred oak, figs and wood smoke.

Bottled at a powerful cask strength of 52.8% ABV, this is a remarkably full bodied and flavoursome whisky.

Only 373 bottles were produced.
