This particular bottling comes from Gordon and MacPhail, one of the oldest independent bottlers in Scotland. This bottling joins their fantastic Cask Strength range, much lauded for its powerfully flavoursome spirit. A terrific small batch product, four casks (numbers: #306183, #306184, #306186 & #306187), all first fill sherry butts, were married to create this marvellously intense malt whisky. This maturation has given the classic smoky Caol Ila profile some fruity, spicy highlights, with a wonderful concentration of flavour.

This whisky is bottled at a tremendous 60.2% ABV, a strength which allows the whisky’s naturally robust flavours to take hold. This whisky is presented, as always with the Cask Strength range, without either artificial colouration or chill filtration. A small batch spirit, this is unlikely to stick around very long. If you’re a fan of sherried peated whiskies, this is a must try.
