Benromach have long maintained a commitment to producing organic single malt whisky, and indeed, claim to be the first distillery to be certified organic.
Contrasts, which was distilled in 2012, is a rebrand of the old Benromach Organic bottling, developed as the distillery completed revamped its branding in 2020. The spirit has been aged in first fill virgin American oak casks for around eight years, prior to be bottled in 2020.
Drinkers should expect notes of vanilla, rich butterscotch, intensely sweet and crunchy malt, green apples, cracked black pepper, creamy coffee, cinnamon, chopped mint, bananas, orange rind, biscuits and pears.
A notably malty dram, this whisky has been bottled at 46% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration.
A pleasingly well balanced whisky which continues the quality of the Organic release.
