Slightly confusingly, this is the second “2nd release” of the 1990 Balblair vintage, with this version aged slightly longer. 1990 marked 200 years of Balblair’s operation, they continue to celebrate the occasion by releasing these fantastic vintage single malts. As always with Balblair, this is a delightfully classy affair. Matured in a mixture of former Bourbon barrels and ex-Oloroso casks, this is a perfectly balanced whisky with notes of vanilla, toffee, dried fruit, cherries and dark oak. This 26 year old is bottled at 46% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration. Balblair never fail to impress with the presentation, and again, this is a beautifully designed bottle with embossed detailing. A cracking dram that will impress any whisky lover and would make a great gift.
