Aberlour’s much loved A’Bunadh series has reached its 58th batch! One of the most consistent releases from any distillery, this high-proof sherry monster has never failed to impress since its release in 1997.

The story goes that during the distillery’s expansion in 1975, a bottle of whisky was discovered that was wrapped in a 1898 newspaper detailing a fire at the distillery. The construction workers polished off most of the bottle, but the remainder was sent away for analysis. A’Bunadh is the result of Aberlour’s attempts at recreating that old dram.

As such, A’Bunadh roughly translates as “the origin”.

This particular batch is an especially spicy one, with rich gingery flavours, a little clove and cinnamon, some espresso, dark chocolate and brown sugar.

Bottled at a hefty 61.1% ABV, this really allows the whisky’s natural flavours to take hold.

Another fabulous release from Aberlour, and one that all sherry-lovers have to try.
