This premium whiskey has been made with a “chocolate malted rye” accounting for 15% of the mashbill. The rest of the recipe consists of 70% corn and 15% distillers malted barley.
What is chocolate malted rye? Well might you ask – this is malted rye which has been toasted to a level where the natural sugars in the grain caramelise into a rich dark chocolate flavour.
The result is a distinctively richer Kentucky Bourbon, with notes of mocha coffee, toasted almonds and hazelnuts, caramelised orchard fruit, rye spice, cacao nibs, slightly astringent oak, earthy vanilla, toffee, more dark chocolate, and some fudgy toffee.
A really unique dram, and one of the stand-out bottlings from the Master’s Collection range.
