The WhistlePig Old World is the result of an experiment by Master Distiller, David Pickerell (formerly Master Distiller for 14 years at Maker’s Mark), who, in 2014, began an experiment involving finishing some of their 12 year old rye in Madeira, Sauternes, Port, Cognac, and Sherry casks. Of these 5 finishes, three stood out: Madeira, Sauternes, and Port. These three finishes where then married, but not in equal proportions. The proportions are: 63% Madeira, 30% Sauternes, and 7% Port.
