Tomintoul 23 Year Old 1995 (Cask #16/1) - Signatory Cask Strength
70 cl, 53.6%

A lovely Signatory Vintage Cask Strength bottling of Tomintoul.

Tomintoul (pronounced “Tom-in-Towel”) is a massively underrated distillery, found on the banks of the river Avon, a major tributary to the Spey. A relatively recent addition to the whisky world, Tomintoul was founded in 1965. The distillery has only recently begun to be recognised for the quality of its single malt, having largely been used in Whyte and Mackay blends throughout its history. Tomintoul produces a cereal forward, slightly sweet whisky.

This excellent bottling has been aged in a single Bourbon barrel for much of its maturation, before a 36 month finishing process in a first fill sherry butt, super charging it with flavour. A 1995 vintage, the whisky was bottled in the February of 2019.

The final result is a wonderfully rich dram, with notes of dried cherries, apricot, raisins, sultanas, toffee, creamy vanilla, fruitcake, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, dark chocolate, a little espresso, old oak, sweet malt and sherry.

Bottled at a cask strength of 53.6% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a perfectly natural dram which offers the drinker an intense experience.

Just 708 bottles were produced.
