A 2002 vintage Tomatin bottled by the fine folk at Gordon & MacPhail for their excellent Connoisseurs Choice range.
Tomatin is a Highland distillery tucked just outside the Speyside region, which has risen in profile in recent years.
This bottling has been aged for 16 years in a single first fill Bourbon barrel, having been distilled in 2002 and bottled in 2019. The result is a delightfully complex and creamy dram.
The bottling offers up notes of beeswax, greengage, grapes, vanilla, lemon curd, white chocolate, buttered toast, apple, pears, pepper, charred oak, kiwi and allspice.
Bottled at a cask strength of 58.4% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a whisky full in both body and flavour.
Just 206 bottles were produced.
