A wonderful single malt whisky from Finland. Teerenpeli were the first Finnish producers of malt whisky when they established their distillery in 2002. In a short period, they have become the largest distilling producers in Finland. They have a firm commitment to using the very best local ingredients including the finest Finnish barley and spring water. Indeed, they specially shipped over a pot still from Scotland to create their spirit. Teerenpeli were formerly an independent bottler, and therefore have great experience in cask sourcing and management. This whisky has been aged in former Bourbon casks, before being finished in Moscatel wine casks for a year. On the nose, this whisky has tremendous aromas of sugared apples, maple, dried fruits, bright oak, toffee and slight vanilla custard. The palate is thick and decadent with wonderful orchard fruit flavours accompanied by a little spice and pepper, with some bright cereal sweetness. The finish is long and lingering, with lasting oak, woodspice and sweet fruit flavours. These beautiful flavours are given a little boost by the slightly higher bottling strength of 43% ABV. Please note this is a 50cl bottling.
