Another of Teeling’s excellent Small Batch collaborations.

This time round the Irish distillery has paired up with craft brewery Galway Bay, from Ireland’s West.

The whiskey is produced with a mixture of grain and malted barley, and matured in for 6 years in former Bourbon casks, before being finished for a year in Strong Ale casks from Galway Bay (presumably a by-product of their very popular Diving Bell Strong Ale).

This finishing process has lent some delicious dense malty, molasses flavours and a slight savoury bitterness to final product, which perfectly complements the whiskey’s rich, sweet and grassy character. Some spicy, tropical notes from the Bourbon cask round out the bottling nicely.

Teeling Galway Bay Strong Ale Finish benefits from being bottled at the higher proof of 46% ABV.
