Rittenhouse is a bottled-in-bond straight rye whisky, distilled, aged, and bottled at the Heaven Hill Distillery. Because it is “bottled-in-bond” it is legally required to be at least 4 years old, and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). Furthermore, the designation “straight rye” means that it was aged in charred, new oak barrels. It is also what you call a “barely legal” rye, meaning that it is distilled from a mashbill containing only the minimum percentage of rye grain required to be labeled as a rye, which is 51%.
Rittenhouse is a very versatile rye whisky, and can be drunk neat, on the rocks, or in one of the many delicious rye-based cocktails.
