An incredibly spicy rye that has impressed many American whiskey fans across the globe since its release in 2015. Made in an old fashioned Maryland style (Pennsylvania and Maryland were once centres of American distilling) by Heaven Hill in Kentucky. The brand dates back to 1895, when it was producing in Maryland. This rye has enjoyed fantastic success, with pretty much a clean sweep of esteemed spirits awards shows and panels around the world. The San Francisco World Spirits Competition awarded Pikesville a Double Gold, whilst the Ultimate Spirits Challenge named it “Extraordinary, Ultimate Recommendation”. Jim Murray gave this rye a whopping 97.5 points out of 100, and declared it the second best whisky in the world, and the “best from Heaven Hill for some time” in his 2016 Whisky Bible. Finally the World Whisky Awards of 2016 stated that Pikesville was the World’s Best Rye Whisky. As for flavour, Pikesville packs a mighty punch (helped by the 55% ABV) full of rich, spicy, herbaceous notes with full chocolate notes on the palate. Would make a fantastic Manhattan!
