A frankly absurdly good value dram from veteran bottlers and blenders, Gordon and MacPhail.
Mortlach distillery is beloved by whisky connoisseurs for its slightly meaty and thick spirit, particularly when aged in sherry casks and independently bottled, as is the case here.
This bottling has been aged for a mighty 21 years, in refill sherry casks, developing a terrific complexity and depth. Mortlach 21 G&M serves up notes of vanilla, sherry, summer berries, sultanas, mint, milk chocolate, vanilla, sweet wine, black pepper, overripe bananas, cream, and oily nuts.
A typical Mortlach of this style, robust, spicy and thick. The whisky is bottled at 43% ABV and presented in the classic Gordon and MacPhail livery.
One of the last great bargains of the independent bottling world.
