Simply one of the very best Irish whiskies on the market today.
A highly anticipated annual release from Midleton, first created by Barry Crockett in 1984, who stated his aim was to “produce the best whiskey possible”. This is the 34th bottling in this series.
The whiskey is a blend of single pot still and grain whiskies, 2017’s bottling contains the oldest stock to be bottled as Very Rare yet, with a 32 year old grain and 26 year old pot still featuring in the blend. The casks are hand selected by Brian Nation, the current Master Distiller of Midleton.
Each vintage is different, and is highly limited, with just 100 casks going into the vatting.
This is a whiskey of superb balance, with sweet barley notes upfront, accompanied by some maple syrup, cooked apples, peppery spice, honey, citrus, stone fruit, grassy oak and mixed spice.
A whiskey that every fan of the Irish spirit has to try once, a modern classic that has represented the pinnacle of the style since 1984.
