Founded in 1824, the Macallan distillery produces one of the most famous single malts in the world. A real rarity, this sherry finish expression reveals three core sequences that are closely linked to each other and yet sufficiently rich to stand alone. This allows tasters to explore at will a multitude of flavour and aroma landscapes whose classicism is rivalled only by their luxuriance, with every moment of the tasting offering its multitude of flavour and aroma landscapes whose classicism is rivalled only by their luxuriance, with every moment of the tasting offering its own lot of surprises and corroboration. Discovering this incredibly beautiful Macallan is like admiring the finesse of a stunning architectural oeuvre.
Colour: topaz brown.
Profile: with incredible beauty, the first nose wavers between citrus fruit vanilla, walnut, wax and incense. Allowed to breathe, the finesse and complexity of the aromatic palette highlights the refined architecture of the flavours. The very accomplished attack is both vanilla and juicy (orange). Strong spices (clove, cinnamon) leave an indelible mark on the palate. The heady finish is preciously woody (oak). With an incredibly noble expression, the retronasal olfaction wavers between dried fruit and nutmeg.
The whisky was disgorged and bottled under my supervision in the Town of Pitlochry on 7th January 2019.Andrew W. Symington, Managing Director, Signatory Vintage
