Linkwood 22 Year Old 1995 (Cask #5953 & #5954) - Signatory Vintage
70 cl, 43%

Another absolute beauty from Signatory Vintage, this time a bottling of cult Elgin distillery, Linkwood. This distillery was first founded in 1821, though it has been rebuilt and extended throughout its history.

A favourite of blenders and connoisseurs, a large portion of Linkwood is to be found in the White Horse and Johnnie Walker blends, both brands owned by Diageo, who manage Linkwood too.

This particularly bottling has been aged for 22 years, having been distilled on the 11th of May 1995 and bottled on the 15th of June 2017. Maturation occurred in two Hogsheads, cask numbers 5953 and 5954.

This long maturation has produced a whisky with supple, succulent oaky flavours accompanying the earthy spice and vanilla inherent to Linkwood’s spirit, with notes of biscuit, ginger, caramel and clear honey. Some warm barley and apples give this dram a classic Speyside feel.

This whisky has been bottled at the slightly higher proof of 43% ABV, giving the flavours a little boost, and without any artificial colouration.

Given that this spirit was drawn from just two casks, bottles are highly limited, and drinkers should move fast if they want to taste this fantastic dram.
