One of our favourite Bourbons at this price point, this is very traditional American whiskey, designed to recall the small batch production of Bourbon’s pre-prohibition era. Produced by Jim Beam, this is one of their more premium products, featuring a spicy high-rye mash-bill and a little more time in the cask than their other Bourbons. First introduced in 1992 to great acclaim by Beam’s legendary distiller Booker Noe, this Bourbon has gained a legion of adoring fans. Knob Creek is designed to reflect this old-school style as well, with a familiar square medicine bottle design, and nostalgic sealing wax around the cork. The name is taken from the small creek near where Abraham Lincoln grew up. Bottled at a robust 50% ABV, the Bourbon offers a lovely intensity of flavour. The nose offers up classic Bourbon aromas of barrel char, vanilla, caramel and toasted cinnamon. The palate is thick and luxurious, with wonderful pepper notes, oily almonds, bitter chocolate and espresso, and smouldering oak. The finish is long and drying, with plenty of vanilla, nuts and toasted spice.
