Another fantastic vintage Grande Champage Cognac produced by the inimitable Jean Fillioux. Jean Fillioux enjoys one of the best locations in the Cognac region, found at the heart of the “golden triangle” in the Grande Champagne Cru. This area has the chalkiest, most lime-rich soil in the Cognac region, meaning that the grapes grown there have the perfect level of acidity to produce flavoursome spirit. The vineyard itself at Jean Fillioux is pretty small, only 63 acres, meaning that their spirit is all the more sought after due to its lower production. Jean Fillioux have been family owned since they were founded way back in 1880, and their current manager (who works alongside his son) has been in the role for a little under 70 years, bringing incredible expertise to the Cognac making process.

And it shows, particularly in terrific vintage bottlings such as this one. Laid down in 1994 in French Oak casks, and allowed to age slowly in the estate’s cellars. Over time it has developed rich flavours of pressed flowers, stone fruit, toffee and dried fruit. Another testament to the extraordinary abilities of the good folk at Jean Fillioux. As good as it tastes, this Cognac looks the part as well, with a handsome presentation tube and decanter style bottle. Would make a superb gift for anyone born in 1994, or just for the Cognac lover in your life!
