A simply outstanding Cognac from Jean Fillioux, a Cognac house that has been producing superb spirit since 1880, when it was established Honoré Fillioux. His descendants have been managing the distillery ever since, a fact celebrated by this bottling.

The bottling was launched to celebrate passing of the baton from one generation to the next, with Christophe Fillioux taking over from his father Pascal. The importance of this cannot be overstated, as the manager of the Cognac House oversees every detail in the creation of the spirit, from the soil to the choice of labels.

This was the first Cognac produced by Christophe Fillioux, and was designed to express something about the nature of the man himself, hence the name “Kristof”. Christophe describes this spirit as “a bit rustic”, with a slightly higher proof of 43% ABV. Furthermore, the spirit shares an average age with Christophe, between 35 to 40 years old.

This is indeed, a terrifically old Cognac, with some spirit aged over 60 years. Maturation occurs in French oak casks in the cellars of Fillioux”s chateau. The spirit itself is produced from vineyards that lie within the so-called “golden triangle” in the heart of Grande Champagne, between Verrières, Juillac-le-Coq, and Angeac-Champagne. This area is known for producing some of the finest and most delicately flavoured grapes for creating Cognac.

The combination of spirit, soil and maturation has produced a singularly flavoursome and expressive Cognac. Drinkers should expect a warm, fully bodied mouthfeel, with flavours of pressed flowers, sugared citrus peel, vanilla custard, toffee, rancio, pineapple, mango, bananas and rich dried fruits, with a core of old, dignified oak.

A breathtakingly delicious spirit, which maintains perfect balance throughout. No artificial colouring was used in the production of this Cognac, meaning that the natural colours and flavours of the spirit take hold.

Presented in a beautiful, individually numbered carafe-style bottling, which comes complete with a wooden gift box. Just 500 bottles of this Cognac are available, meaning that this is a real rarity for the connoisseurs out there.
