A big, one liter bottling from Jack Daniel’s, forming the second bottling in Jack Daniel’s Legacy Edition series.
This series offers Jack Daniel’s classic Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey, but with “legacy labels” from the brand’s storied history. Legacy Edition number 2 was first produced in the early 20th century, prior to the transition to the familiar black and white label, but after the green and red label that JD used prior to 1904 (see Legacy Edition No. 1). Legacy edition whiskies are also bottled at the slightly higher proof of 43% ABV, a welcome change that offers greater body and intensity.
This label features a three star emblem, a symbol of the state of Tennessee, and an anchor motif, said to represent Jack’s steadfast nature. The original label featured the phrase “medicinal use only” – unsurprisingly, this does not feature on the 2019 label.
The spirit inside the bottle is the same JD we know and love, a sour mash whiskey filtered through charcoal in the Lincoln Country process. The bottling serves up mellow notes of vanilla, toffee, charcoal, burnt oak, corn, cinnamon spice and cream.
A great bottling for collectors, that would make for an excellent gift for any JD lover!
