A lovely little Highland Park bottling, produced by Gordon and MacPhail for the MacPhail’s Collection, which generally offers superb value for money.

This whisky was distilled at the famous Orkney-based distillery in 1990, and bottled 2017 having been aged in refill American hogheads for over 26 years.

The result is an extraordinarily complex dram, offering notes of heathery peat smoke, vanilla, pineapple, mango, liquorice, sea spray, bananas, dusty oak, malt, honey, apples and pears.

Bottled at 43% ABV, this is a medium bodied dram with plenty of character.
