A fantastically well titled whisky, designed to replace Suntory’s excellent age-stated Hibiki whiskies. Harmony reflects the flavours of the whisky, a perfectly blended dram, with all constituent parts working together beautifully to ensure a delightful balance. This whisky draws on spirit taken from five varieties of casks, featuring American oak, Sherry casks and, most interestly, Mizunara (or Japanese) oak casks. The latter are known for imparting a peerless coconut and floral flavour. Master Blender Shingo Torii was directly responsible for creating this whisky, and all his years of experience are clearly on show in this dram, it being a rich, flavoursome and exquisitely crafted whisky. This whisky is bottled in a gorgeous decanter-like bottle, and at 43% ABV, giving the flavours warmth, yet retaining the whisky’s approachability. Drinkers should expect juicy notes of passion fruit, touches of honey, lemon rind and oak. What Japanese whisky is all about.
