A delicious Grande Champagne Cognac from the Grosperrin bottlers.

This is a spirit with a fascinating provenance. The Cognac was matured for a considerable time in a large, cobblestone floored cellar with the original producers. It remained here until the late 2000s, when Grosperrin purchased it.

A small label on the batch suggested that the spirit was produced in Criteuil-la-Magdeleine, a village in Grande Champagne that is renowned for the quality of its limestone soil, producing Cognac with an exceptional ability to age. There is no absolute proof that this spirit does come from the village for certain, but this is a good indication that it may well be of the highest quality.

This extremely small batch of just three vessels is considered by Grosperrin to be amongst the finest spirit in their reserves.

The Cognac itself is lively and bright for its age, serving up notes of fresh grapes, candied cherries and orange peel, pineapple, sandalwood, cedar, rancio, old oak, slight leather, soft wine tannins, blackcurrants, nutmeg and pressed flowers.

Grosperrin have bottle the spirit at 45.1% ABV, ensuring its body and depth remain intact.

A superb Cognac of a rare quality, that comes complete with a handsome wooden presentation box. This is one for the collectors.
