A bright and flavoursome Small Batch Irish whiskey from the Powerscourt Distillery.

Powerscourt Distillery is found in County Wicklow, taking its name from a nearby country estate. The distillery is part of Ireland’s whiskey boom and was established in 2018. This bottling is the first expression in the Fercullen range that includes some spirit distilled on-site.

This small batch dram is made with a mixture of malt and grain whiskey in a 50/50 split. The malt whiskies have been aged in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels and the grain in a combination of ex-Bourbon and new heavy charred oak casks.

The final product offers notes of apples, pears, some rosemary and thyme, black pepper, brown sugar, cinnamon, sweet malt, vanilla, oak, a little barrel char, cloves and powdered ginger.

A great introduction to a promising Irish producer.
