Another excellent single barrel whisky from Dutch bottler The Ultimate Whisky Company.

This time round they’ve picked out a bracing barrel of Craigellachie, one of the most interesting distilleries in the Speyside region. Craigellachie uses traditional worm tub condensers, which produce somewhat meaty, slightly sulphuric new make spirit, becoming chewy and characterful with age.

This bottling was distilled in 2008 and matured in a single Bourbon barrel (number 800114) for 10 years, having been bottled on the 8th of April 2019.

The result is waxy dram with tropical bourbon barrel notes of vanilla, toffee, candied apple, coconut, almond, bright new oak, corn bread, butter, honey, and spirit-driven flavours of hay, meaty malt, pears, and flowers.

Bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration or colouration this is a dram full in body and flavour.

Only 300 bottles were released.
