A bottle of Clynelish that forms part of HBO and Diageo’s wildly popular Game of Thrones collection.
In the show, House Tyrell are a wealthy, powerful family, known for ruling over a particularly fertile and well populated region known as the Reach. Their seat of power, Highgarden, is surrounded by rolling green fields, much like the Clynelish distillery, an apt choice for this bottling.
House Tyrell’s sigil is the golden rose, which grow around their castle. The colour of emblem is reflected by the whisky itself, a beautiful dram of burnished gold with a floral undercurrent. It is said that the Clynemilton burn, which provides Clynelish with its water, runs over purifying veins of gold in the riverbed.
The whisky itself delivers classic Clynelish waxiness and minerality, alongside rich vanilla custard flavours, notes of pineapple, heather, flowers, sea salt, white chocolate, mango, light wood smoke, cinnamon, toffee, sultanas and toasted malt. Like the rose that hides its thorns, this whisky starts sweet and floral, before offering up a prickling punch!
Bottled at a higher strength of 51.2% ABV, this is a rich and assertive dram.
Perfect for anyone looking to complete their collection of these whiskies, this is also an excellent iteration of Clynelish’s spirit.
