Another delicious bottling produced by the fine folks at Signatory. This Clynelish 22 Year Old forms part of the bottler’s well-regarded Cask Strength series.
Highland distillery Clynelish is beloved by connoisseurs for its waxy, slightly flinty flavour. This same quality is prized highly by blenders, who often use it to bind together the profiles of whiskies with differing styles.
This particular bottling was aged for 22 years in a single refill butt (number 8673), having been distilled in September 1996 and bottled in January 2018.
The whisky serves up notes of beeswax, toffee, dusty oak, slight herbs, treacle tart, oil, caramel, flint and flamed citrus peel.
Bottled at a very generous Cask Strength of 56.3% ABV, this is a whisky which is full both in flavour and mouthfeel. No colouration or chill filtration was used in the production of this dram.
Just 609 bottles were released.
