A tasty rum from the Central American state of Belize!
This rum was distilled at the Travellers Distillery in a column still. This distillery is so called because it used to serve its spirits to travelers on the road to and from Belize city.
The spirit has been aged for nearly a decade in former Bourbon American oak barrels – quite a long time in the tropical heat of Belize.
The result is a strongly flavoured, complex spirit, packed with notes of tropical fruit, golden syrup, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and some slightly Bourbony notes of vanilla, toffee and cornbread.
Cane Island 9 Year Old Belize is bottled at 43% ABV, giving it a little extra warmth and power.
A great sipping rum, that also does well in stirred drinks.
