Bruichladdich 27 Year Old 1990 - Rare Cask Series
70 cl, 49.5%

A remarkable, well aged offering from one of our favourite distilleries here at Fine Drams, Bruichladdich.

Originally destined to remain a Travel Retail exclusive, we’ve managed to get our hands on a couple of bottles…

Distilled way back in 1990, before the revival of the Bruichladdich, this whisky matured untouched for 17 years in Bourbon and Tennessee whiskey casks.

After the legendary distiller Jim McEwan started at the newly reborn Bruichladdich, he saw great potential in this parcel of spirit, and made the bold call to transfer it into French oak wine casks.

These barrels were sourced from a world class Bordeaux estate, and have transformed this whisky into a classic, wine-cask Bruichladdich, the sort that defined the distillery’s renaissance. In total, this whisky was matured for 27 years, producing a staggeringly complex dram.

Drinkers should expect flavours of rich red fruits: cherry, strawberries and dates, followed by orange rind, chocolate, sweet red grapes, old oak, wine tannins, hazelnuts, and a little Islay sea spray. With time, almond liqueur and dried apricots emerge.

Bottled at 49.5%, non chill filtered and limited to just 12,000 bottles world wide.
