Brora 34 Year Old 1982 (2017 Special Release)
70 cl, 51.9%

The last Diageo Special Release of iconic, beloved Sutherland distillery Brora, before plans for its reopening were announced in Autumn 2017. This is the 16th in the series, with few other bottling ranges having ever created as much excited, or garnered as much attention.

A 1982 vintage, this bottling of the coastal distillery is less peaty than those Broras produced in the 70s. Aged for 34 years in refill American oak hogsheads, this is a subtle, dignified whisky, rich with juicy maritime notes.

This Brora opens with soft flavours of stewed white peaches, apricots, plums and caramelized apples, with a touch of salted caramel, wet rock, slight peat and vanilla, before being followed by nuttier notes of macadamia, hazelnut and almond, alongside a little earthy spice of coriander and nutmeg, and a touch of dark chocolate.

Complex, ever so slightly peated and fruity, this is the Brora we know and love.

Bottled at a cask strength of 51.9% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a natural dram, full of character.

Just 3,000 bottles of this extremely rare Brora have been released.
