This bottling forms part of Bols’ VOC range, which was designed to pay homage to the ships of the ‘Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie’ – the Dutch East India Company, or VOC for short.

Silveren Leeuw translates as Silver Lion, and was the name of a ship that travelled to Indonesia. As such this Corenwijn is flavoured with cloves and coriander, two of the spices carried to Holland by this vessel.

Corenwijn is made with a base of malt wine, with the name literally meaning “Corn Wine”. This is then flavoured with juniper, and matured in oak barrels, giving colour and depth of flavour to the spirit.

The result is a spicy, floral and grassy spirit, with notes of woodspice, vanilla, toffee and oak.

A high quality of Corenwijn, the best way to enjoy this traditional Dutch spirit is neat, like a fine whisky.
