An outstanding young Jenever from Bols, the world’s oldest distillery still in operation, having been established in 1575. It was this spirit, when drunk by English soldiers in the Netherlands, that gave rise to the term “Dutch Courage”.
This spirit is made with a base of double distilled, grain spirit, to which juniper and other botanical distillates are added, producing a unique spirit, related to gin.
This is a fresh and subtle spirit, with a slight underlying earthy spice, and plenty of bittersweet juniper.
Traditionally, Jenever is drunk from a tulip glass, though it was also used in many classic cocktails, and is beginning to see a bartending revival.
