Reopened in 2015, after the distillery’s purchase by David Prior, Bladnoch released a trio of whiskies in 2017 to mark its return to the big time. 2017 was also the distillery’s 200th anniversary. Bladnoch adds some much-needed diversity to the Lowland region, and is Scotland’s most southerly whisky distillery. This whisky was initially released only for the Australian market, but happily some has made it onto our shores. Adela has been matured for 15 years in Oloroso Sherry casks, developing a deep nutty and fruity flavour, with a typical floral Lowland note. This whisky is bottled at 46.7% ABV, without chill filtration. This allows the delicious Sherried notes of this dram to full express themselves on the palate. A welcome return to the fold for this distillery, and an excellent Lowland single malt!
