A superb, well-aged dram from Càrn Mòr, forming part of their high regarded Celebration of the Cask series.

For this bottling they have picked out a single sherry Hogshead from island distillery Arran. A 1996 vintage, this whisky was distilled in Arran’s second full year of production. The spirit was bottled in January 2019 after 22 years.

Despite the long maturation and the sherry cask, this whisky is somewhat restrained in its oak influence, probably due to the size of the cask. The final result is a well balanced dram, that emphasises the earthy, malty qualities of Arran’s spirit just as much as the oakier, fruitier flavours of the cask.

This whisky delivers flavours of chocolate, coffee, dried fruits in rum, apples, brown sugar, austere sherry, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, walnuts, pineapple and toffee.

As ever with this series, the bottling is presented at a cask strength of 55.4% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration.

Another stellar whisky from Càrn Mòr and the folks at Morrison and Mackay, just 335 bottles were produced.
