Batch 61 of Aberlour’s always reliable, always heavily sherried A’Bunadh series.

A’Bunadh is supposedly based on an 1898 bottle of Aberlour that was discovered in a time capsule 1975. The whisky certainly serves up a robust, old fashioned style of scotch.

As ever with this bottling, the whisky has been entirely matured in Oloroso sherry casks, producing an intensely flavoursome dram.

A’Bunadh Batch 61 is packed with flavours of black forest gateau, dried fruit, chocolate, Cognac, honey, tobacco smoke, sherry, cloves, peppery spice, cinnamon, honeycomb, plums, strawberries and drying oak.

Bottled at huge 60.8% ABV, and without colouration or chill filtration, offering a fully natural drinking experience with a thick mouthfeel and spicy palate.

Another cracker in this series, which never fails to impress.
