An excellent gin from Norway, created by the the fantastic Oslo Håndverksdestilleri (which translates as “Craft Distillery”), which was the first new distillery in Norway since 1927. Tørr translates as “dry”, whilst VIDDA means “mountain plateau”. Fittingly then VIDDA Tørr is closely based upon classic London dry gin, but sources botanicals locally from the Norwegian peaks, using bilberry, heather, chamomile, yarrow, meadowsweet, angelica root and of course juniper. Therefore, this is another of the world’s great terroir gins, with fantastic aggressive juniper notes, a slight pine flavour, some citrus and herbaceous fresh mint. This is slightly above average strength at 43% ABV, giving the flavours an added boost and the mouthfeel a little more body. Makes an outstanding G&T!
