A very interesting whisky from Signatory, which contains a mystery spirit from Orkney. As there are only two whisky distilleries (and one gin!) on Orkney, this is either from the Scapa or Highland Park distillery – the closed distillery of Stromness seems an unlikely candidate!
Aged for 12 years in Hogsheads, this whisky has a warm, yet not overwhelming oak character. This dram offers flavours of sea spray, stone fruit, slight maritime funk, earth, faint peat, citrus, creamy vanilla, pressed flowers, flint and toffee.
A really complex and delicious Island malt, all the better for being bottled without chill filtration and artificial colouration, and at 46% ABV.
Wonderful stuff again from this series.
