An astoundingly well-aged single malt from the often overlooked Tormore distillery. This bottling has been produced by veteran bottlers, Gordon & MacPhail for their celebrated Connoisseurs Choice range.
While there are a few Tormore single malts on the market, it is mostly used to produce spirit for the Chivas blends. The distillery’s spirit is known for being quite dense when mature.
And this is a great example of mature Tormore. The whisky has been aged for no less than 27 years in a single first fill Sherry butt, producing an opulent and full flavoured single malt.
The end result is a spirit that offers notes of dark chocolate, walnuts, toffee, caramelised apples, vanilla, raspberry jam, rich malt, oily nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, citrus rind, black pepper, pastry, honey on toast, blueberries and leather.
Bottled at a robust 57.2% ABV, this is an assertive, powerful dram. Only 570 bottles were produced.
