A gin from a distillery that has just released its first malt whisky! Strathearn is a distillery based in Perth, Scotland (a town that has long been associated with the whisky blending trade).
This is a delightful gin in its own right. Created using a two-part process, the spirit is first vapour infused in a 500 litre pot still, with a botanical basket. This goes on to form the base gin, to which more delicate botanicals are added, imparting flavour and the slightly golden colour you see here.
In all, the botanicals used are kaffir lime leaves, star anise, grapefruit rind, liquorice root, lemon peel, orange peel, coriander seeds and juniper.
The result is a fresh and clear, citrus forward gin, with a soft, approachable mouthfeel. Makes for a wonderfully refreshing gin and tonic, particularly when garnished with a slice of grapefruit.
