A tasty 12 year old Speyburn from Gordon and MacPhail’s Connoisseurs Choice range.

Speyburn makes a slightly heavier style of Speyside whisky (through use of wormtubs), which when mature, expresses itself as fragrant and delicious.

This whisky is a 2006 vintage, which has aged in a single refill Sherry butt for 12 years, having been bottled in January 2019.

The result is a spicy, fruity dram that serves up flavours of chocolate raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, walnuts, cloves, marzipan, overripe bananas, fresh bread, ginger, a little chilli, milk chocolate, pecans, Christmas cake, sherried oak, leather and candied orange rind.

The whisky is presented at a fearsome cask strength of 59.2% ABV, and without either chill filtration or colouration.
