The Gin Craze shows no sign of slowing with more and more inventive new products emerging, pushing the boundaries of the spirit.
This is one such spirit. Based around a core of vanilla from the island of Réunion, this is a fresh take on this famous old spirit. Vanilla is joined by some old favourites in the shape of Angelica root, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon and (of course) juniper.
The result is a fresh and pleasantly creamy and sweet gin, with a good dose of spice and slightly piney juniper. It is immediately apparent that this gin would be well suited to a range of interesting cocktails, particularly something along the lines of an Army and Navy.
A great tool for any bartender to possess.

The story behind the gin is what really drew my attention. World’s first Bourbon vanilla infused gin… The slave, Edmond Albius, who discovered vanilla orchids could be artificially pollinated by hand, never got honoured for his invention. This gin brand choose to honour his name, so his legacy lives on. I think of this story every time I sip on my G&T.

I have been following the brand for a couple of years in their adventure in bringing something special to the current gin market. Their use of Bourbon vanilla is clever, knowing that it is worlds favorite spice and an all time favorite for chefs all over the world.
Recently I finally had the change to try it and I was very amazed about the gin. The Bourbon vanilla is very warm and inviting on the nose. On the palate it is full of character, complex and rich with a silky smooth finish.
